The false widow is a relative of the black widow, one of the most venomous spiders in the planet. The false widow is the only venomous spider native to the UK.
Needless to say, this is one spider you certainly wouldn’t want in your backyard.
So imagine the shock of this homeowner when he found not one, not 10, but 60 false widow spiders in his greehouse.
Paul Harry, a resident of Mumbles, Swansea, had a greenhouse where he cultivates a variety of plants. However, he neglected it so he decided to clear it up one day.

According to him, “The field is at the back of the house and is overgrown with a lot of junk in it.
“I found some old asbestos sheets that were leaning against some sheets of glass basically turning it into a greenhouse of sorts.
“It provided the ideal environment for them to breed due to the heat. When I moved them I saw about 60 big spiders.
“At first I thought that they were brown house spiders but upon closer inspection they looked far nastier than that.”

“The biggest one was about three inches wide and it’s back was like a skull.
“I know a lot about wildlife but when I looked them up I knew they were false widow spiders.”
The false widow has a round, brown body. A bite from this creepy crawler can cause fever, headache and chest pains.
Fortunately for Paul, these spiders have yet to kill a single person.
Paul said that he has already drowned the spiders, just in case.
