Palace:amadou Sakho can lift Crystal Palace but it’s mission impossible against Manchester City

Mamadou Sakho is going to make Crystal Palace better and give them more stability – but unfortunately I think it is mission impossible for them at the Etihad.

Palace will have been working hard on their shape and being better defensively because that is what Roy Hodgson likes to do with his teams. But when confidence is low and you do not want to play a team who can open you up, you do not want to go to Manchester City.

They are scoring goals for fun and with the creative players they have got and the options they have got it is a big task for Palace.

But Sakho is a really positive player for them. He did so well when he was there last season. He is very athletic, powerful and not someone who will be fazed playing against the big boys. His biggest weakness is that he gets over-confident at times. But he is someone they need to rely on because he has the quality to defend against anybody.
Sakho has just got to have the concentration. He is going to make them better and give them more stability. But I think they will be under too much pressure in the game to hold out.

What you have got to hope for when you go to the big teams is that every decision goes for you, you get an early goal and then you hang on for dear life.

Palace have missed Wilfried Zaha, of course they have. They will be organised and they will keep fighting and there is a lot of experience in that side. But I cannot see how they can come away with anything
